Good Morning Spider

In term of conceptual fuzziness, Sparklehorse would like nothing better than to be analogous to the ether from which their disparate influences emit. What better way to explain the slippery, atmospheric way they trip over themselves for their second major label release? Mark Linkous sings with a hangover while a cavalcade of bizarre instruments create the daringly quiet-yet-fussy background noise. There's always a stringed instrument creeping, creating an uneasy sense of rest and relaxation. In this sense, these folks are like the blunted pot buzz at the other end of Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control's lysergic emanations. This is the stuff you see when you're half-asleep but stressed beyond repair. They titled this album what they did for a reason! Not that it's all narcoleptic blues for the socially inept. The pop don't get better than "Sick Of Goodbyes," which sounds like the Sparklehorse folks after spending the day at Disneyland.
