Ghetto Fabulous

It's been a long time. And the incredible, swift-tongued flows of No Limit rhyme animal Mystikal should have never left us. After two life-threatening jabs, Mind Of Mystikal and Unpredictable, the merciless Michael Tyler returns with the blow of death. Just when most No Limit releases were sounding more and more like left-over pieces of assembly line scrap, Ghetto Fabulous steps into the ring with 16 shots that make you say, "DAMN!" Lyrically murdering mics alone or with accomplices, Mystikal comes off. Teaming up with lyrical cutthroats Treach and Vinnie of Naughty By Nature, the trio throws their respective hoods up on "Dirty South, Dirty Jerz." On "Whacha Want, Whacha Need," Mystikal hooks up with Busta Rhymes to deliver some of the highest-energy flavors this side of a unified hip-hop nation. Mystikal also proves again that he needs no help in "putting his d--- on a track." The very first track on the CD, "Round Out The Tank," proves this. Along with cuts like "Keep It Hype," "There He Go," and the third installment to his chronic escapades, "I Smell Smoke," Mystikal makes heads bob, fingers snap, and bodies bounce. While this verbal Superman can freak a beat with his East Coast counterparts or all by himself, no No Limit joint would be complete without help from the other tank dogs. A laid-back groove oozed over funky piano chords, "Stack Yo Chips" is yet another money-making anthem with the Colonel Master P and C-Murder. Featuring Snoop Dogg and Silkk The Shocker, "Let's Go Do It" is a throw-your-guns-up battle cry, boasting heavy, funeral-parlor organs and a patented South Coast beat. "What's Your Alias" is another high point on the disc that swells heads through the speaker. With Fiend, Mac, and Silkk The Shocker at his back, Mystikal sets shrapnel-flying land mines. Loaded with enough hard-hitting rhymes, chest-pounding beats, blood, gore, and a pinch of personal sentiment, Ghetto Fabulous is well worth the long, long wait.
