His most ambitious, unpredictable, and musically satisfying album. Jonathan Butler at this time was an unheralded expatriate South African who did more acoustic guitar playing than singing, and hadn't yet become an Urban Contemporary hero. His vocals weren't as polished or heavily produced, and his compositions were looser, more animated, and less calculating. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
