In the course of four albums, The Connells have evolved their own style within the jangling guitar-rock sound so prevalent in alternative bands of the '80s. Mainly it's been a matter of writing more distinctive songs and having them sung by guitarist George Huntley so they sink in. This is their first album to cross over from the category of "promising" to the beginnings of a fulfillment of that promise. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
