If Loving You Is Wrong... (Charly) Review
07/13/2005 4:19 AM, AMG
Luther Ingram earned his biggest R&B and pop hit with the title track, one of the last hurrahs for gospel-tinged and country-flavored confessional soul. The song would later become a country hit for Barbara Mandrell. Ingram landed one other Top Ten R&B single with "I'll Be Your Shelter (In Time of Storm)," and the album contained some other earnest soul ballads that weren't hits in "I Can't Stop" and "Help Me Love." Ingram never again enjoyed similar crossover heights, and the tide was turning against deep soul in both pop and R&B camps. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
