Santana III Review
07/13/2005 4:21 AM, AMG
The group's third album, simply titled Santana on its original September 1971 release, was the last work of the original Woodstock-era lineup. With hit singles and albums under their belt, the group became more experimental on their third go-round. This yielded some of their best work and another number one for the band. [The 1998 re-release adds three bonus tracks recorded live at the Fillmore West on July 4, 1971, bringing comparable on-stage versions of the album's "Batuka" and "Jungle Strut" along with the rocking "Gumbo."] ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
