And The Horse They Rode In On... Review
01/30/2005 4:55 AM, AMG
The band had already begun to trade in the loud and fast sound for something a little more roots-based, as found on "We 3," while other songs dabbled in heavy metal ("All the King's Friends"). On alternate tracks, the experiment didn't really work, and it left old fans confused and cold while arriving a little too early to cash in on the alt-rock explosion. Consequently, this otherwise fine record was left unheralded. It stands as one of the last pre-grunge alternative rock records, but had it not been perceived to fail so miserably, the band's success with its following album wouldn't have been nearly as sweet. ~ Denise Sullivan, All Music Guide
