I Will Always Love You And Other Greatest Hits Review

Released after Whitney Houston made "I Will Always Love You" into a record-shattering smash hit, I Will Always Love You and Other Greatest Hits is designed for pop fans that are curious about Parton because of Houston. In other words, it ain't really country, but it's a good sampling of her country-pop recordings for Columbia, containing songs like "Why'd You Come in Here Lookin' Like That," "Rockin' Years," "Yellow Roses," "White Limozeen," "Eagle When She Flies," "To Daddy" and "Silver and Gold." It's hardly perfect -- after all, Columbia was not where she had her biggest hits, and even the title track is a re-recording -- but it's not bad for a sampler. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
