Hook Review

Hook was the first single released off of Blues Traveler's 1994 album Four, but only as a teaser. After the huge success of Run-Around, A&M released it as the second proper single. "Hook" criticizes the music industry (as did the video for "Run-Around"), and follows the chord progression of Pachelbel's Canon. The CD single includes the live VH1 performances that were instrumental in breaking the band into the mainstream. "Run-Around" and "The Mountains Win Again" were played on the show Live at VH1. A version of "Hook" live from New York is also included. Overall, this is a nice single, but not the grand slam that the Run-Around single was. ~ JT Griffith, All Music Guide
