Engine Review
07/13/2005 7:32 AM, AMG
Taking a temporary break from progressive metal godfathers Fates Warning, lead singer Ray Alder assembled Engine, a side project devoted to straight-ahead hard rock and featuring mostly veteran musicians. Their self-titled debut proves that even though he doesn't usually devote himself to it with Fates Warning, Alder knows how to ride a heavy guitar groove. Occasionally, the songs can seem a little generic or journeyman-like, but for the most part, Engine is pretty well put together. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
