It’s always suspicious when someone successful in one field tries their hand in another. You can be the finest fruit peddler in the village and everyone will respect you for that, but try selling home improvement materials and watch the criticisms fly! Juliette Lewis has had a very successful first career as a movie actress, playing a wide range of psychos unfit to bring home to mother. So it really isn’t much of a stretch for her to attempt career number two as the lead singer of a hard rock ensemble. Others have noted she sounds a bit like PJ Harvey, since both strongly emote. However, Lewis isn’t looking to mine the avant-garde for her inspirations. Her tunes celebrate the now nearly old-fashioned world of the ‘70s rockstar. With Nirvana/Foo Fighter Dave Grohl on drums, “Smash And Grab,” “Sticky Honey” and “Get Up” kick solid and professional; the Parental Advisory sticker prominently displayed on the shrinkwrap tells us she did something right.
