Boomkat Singer Learned From Britney Spears & Eminem

(3/12/03, 12 p.m. ET) -- Boomkat vocalist Taryn Manning is no stranger to the entertainment world. Her television credits include recurring roles on Get Real and Boston Public. Her list of film credits includes White Oleander (with Renee Zellweger, Michelle Pfeiffer), and Crazy/Beautiful (with Kirsten Dunst, Jay Hernandez). More recently, Manning had the opportunity to work with Britney Spears in Crossroads and Eminem in 8 Mile.
Manning says that she's now applying what she learned from Spears and Eminem to her own band. "I learned a lot from Britney, I mean, Britney's a pretty mature girl," Manning said. "You know, she doesn't really let the press bother her--the things that the press people say--and I really watched things roll off her back. I looked up to her. A lot of people wanna dis her and say mean things, but she doesn't let it get to her. And then Eminem was, surprisingly, really sweet and sensitive, and I was shocked by that."
Boomkat's album, Boomkatalog One, comes out April 8th via DreamWorks Records. The set's first single, "The Wreckoning," is already Number 24 on Radio & Records CHR/Pop chart.
