Vanessa Carlton Added To Arthur Ashe Kids' Day Line-up

(8/21/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- Singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton will join British trio BBMak and new J Records sensation Mario in performing at Arthur Ashe Kids' Day on August 24 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. Tennis stars Andre Agassi, Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, and co-hosts Olympic Gold Medalist and TV personality Summer Sanders and MTV VJ Quddus are also scheduled to appear.
The day-long festival of kids' tennis activities and music presented by Aetna serves as the kick-off event for the U.S. Open, which runs August 26 - September 8. The Arthur Ashe Kids' Day stadium show will take place from 12-2 p.m. ET on August 24, and will air nationally from 12-1:30 p.m. ET on CBS August 25.
Arthur Ashe Kids' Day benefits several youth-oriented charities and USA Tennis National Junior Tennis League (NJTL), a program founded by Ashe, Charlie Pasarell, and Sheridan Snyder in 1969 to provide tennis opportunities to economically disadvantaged children. Tickets for the event are currently on sale via Ticketmaster at 1-866-673-6849, at usopen.org, and at the USTA National Tennis Center box office.
