Jennifer Lopez At The Top Of Her Music Game

(5/11/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Musically speaking, 2002 has been an exceptional year for Jennifer Lopez--she is still finding success with her 2001 J. Lo album as well as this year's companion remix collection, J To Tha L-O: The Remixes. Meanwhile, Lopez's collaboration with rapper Ja Rule on "Ain't It Funny" is at Number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart after 21 weeks, while her track "I'm Gonna Be Alright," featuring rapper Nas, is at Number 33.
The singer-actress told LAUNCH that she's ecstatic that the response to her latest albums has been overwhelmingly positive. "Probably the most pleasant surprise that I had was how well people received the music. I mean, for me, it's like you love the music you do, and I'm sure every musician loves the music they do, but you never know how it's going to be received. You know, with movies it's a more collaborative thing--it's a little bit more out of your control. It's, like, 'OK, I did my work. I did it good. I'm happy with it,' or 'Oh God, I wasn't happy with it.' With music, it's going to come out the way you want it to, so the rest is kind of up to the universe," she said.
Lopez also recently took home the award for Latin dance maxi-single of the year for "Love Don't Cost A Thing (Amor Se Paga Con Amor)" at the 2002 Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, which took place Thursday (May 9) at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach, Florida.
While Lopez's music career is still in high gear, her acting career will get yet another boost when her latest film, the thriller Enough, hits theaters nationwide on May 24.
