Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette, Metallica, and the Backstreet Boys have the top albums of the Soundscan era, according to the service's parent company, Nielsen.

Soundscan has been tracking album sales since 1991 and Twain's 1997 release, Come On Over reigns on top, selling 14.4 million-plus copies, with Morissette's 1995 debut, Jagged Little Pill at Number Two with more than 14 million sold.

At Number Three is Metallica's self-titled album from 1991 at more than 13 million. Number Four belongs to the Backstreet Boys' 1999 Millennium, topping 13 million units; while Number Five is the 1992 soundtrack from Whitney Houston's film, The Bodyguard, with 11.7 million in sales.

The remaining top five on the list come in at around the 11 and 10 million sales mark. At Number Six is 1999's Supernatural by Santana and the Number Seven spot is held by Creed's 1999 second album, Human Clay. Number Eight belongs to *NSYNC's 2000 second album, No Strings Attached. Number Nine is claimed by Celine Dion's 1996 set Falling Into You. Rounding out the list at Number 10 is Britney Spears's 1999 album debut, ...Baby One More Time.
