Joe Jonas of the singing trio of handsome young men known as the Jonas Brothers is working on a solo album. This album was going to be mature -- very adult contemporary, you know, adult -- but Joe Jonas is no fool. He knows what the kids want to buy right now. He's got his eye on the charts. He's got a foot in the club. So he's working with Timbaland protégé Danja, known for his breakthrough work on Britney Spears' "Blackout," on an LP with a "fun vibe."Joe Jonas has a good reason to suddenly be spouting his love for some of The Amp's most beloved electro bands (but more on that in a moment). The Jonas Brothers went super-serious for their most recent album, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" -- doesn't the title just sound like a downer? They were very seriously leaning on a truck on the album cover, too. And their young audience responded with clear feedback: They didn't buy the album with the kind of manic gusto with which they snapped up everything Jonas-related that preceded it. In fact, it has yet to go platinum.
So now Jonas' playlist is way more ... French. He cites Daft Punk and Justice as new influences in an MTV interview, and even shouts out U.K. artist FrankMusik. "A lot of electro DJs out in Europe are doing some cool stuff right now," he says. "A lot of stuff that's so amazing [that] you can create on the computer." Maybe a phone call to David Guetta is in order! "We are huge fans of the new 'Tron' movie," he adds. Maybe we'll add a phone call to Morpheus to that list, too.
