Download Six Tracks From Trent Reznor’s Compelling ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Score

As promised, Trent Reznor last night provided the complete details for his three-hour-long 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' score, and as an added bonus, the Nine Inch Nails frontman offered up a six-song sampler as a free download. The six instrumentals run the spectrum of all the different moods Reznor and Ross had to tackle for the film: Calm, ambient, foreboding, intense, visceral, and terrifying, each delivered in a way that showcases Reznor's uniquely dark electronic signature.

This might be David Fincher's movie, but some of the song titles on the score are trademark Reznor: "Pinned And Mounted," "Cut Into Pieces," "The Heretics," "How Brittle The Bones" and "Infiltrator" all sound like they were culled from 'The Downward Spiral' and 'Broken' sessions. Another song is called "Perhelion," even though it's spelled wrong on iTunes. ("For those that noticed, there's a typo in the track listing on iTunes. Track 5 should be Perihelion. Amateur hour here — sorry," Reznor lamented on Twitter last night.) There are 39 tracks in total, including How to Destroy Angels' version of Bryan Ferry's "Is Your Love Strong Enough?"

"For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'," Reznor wrote on the official NIN site. "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus that I am happy to announce is available for pre-order right now for as low as $11.99. The full release will be available in one week - December 9th."

$11.99 is the cheapest option, and that's the simple iTunes version that includes Reznor and Karen O's "Immigrant Song" cover. The most expensive option, the one that Nine Inch Nails fans will demand for Christmas, is the mega $300 edition that includes six vinyls, an "exclusive custom 8gb metal razor blade USB pendant, inspired by Lisbeth's razor blade necklace," "book package with metal cover in a hard plastic 'ice' slip cover," and Reznor and Ross' autographs. There are only 3,000 of those bad boys, and they're available for pre-order at the NIN shop.
