You can take the boy out of New York, but you can't take the New York out of the boy.
Billy Joel made an undercover appearance at the Deasy Elementary School spring concert in Glen Cove, New York, on Wednesday, to take in the kindergarten performance of "The River of Dreams: A Billy Joel Tribute."
The Piano Man was invited to the concert in his native Long Island community by the school's principal and a teacher, who had selected 15 of Joel's songs for a group of 5- to 7-year-olds to sing. Since the Bronx-born singer still lives locally they hoped he'd join them. Alas, he never responded to their email request.
"Five minutes before the concert was set to begin, he walked in the building with other parents and invited guests and took a seat and really blended into the crowd," Maria Rianna, Glen Cove School District's superintendent told Yahoo. "The principal came over and asked him if he would like to move to the front of the auditorium. He said he didn't want to make the kids or teacher nervous, so he would sit toward the back."

Talk about a serious stomachache.
Avicii canceled his performance at the Ultra Festival in Miami this weekend to undergo emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder. During the surgery doctors also removed his appendix after discovering that it had ruptured.
The "Wake Me Up" artist shared a note on Facebook about his medical prognosis on Friday. "It's a routine surgery and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour. Thanks for your concern everyone, it means a lot to me!"
The 24-year-old performer also revealed in his Facebook message that he's "had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis."
On Saturday, he took to Twitter to assure his fans that he was on the mend.
Turns out i had a ruptured appendix on top of my sick gallbladder…both were removed during the operation pic.twitter.com/4VsSPrJEug
Now i feel like shit but at least i’m on the road to recovery…
The Swedish DJ is set to kick off the U.S. portion of his True Tour in Boston on April 10. He'll continue his debut concert tour in North America and Europe.

Mick Jagger made his first public statement Tuesday following the death of his longtime girlfriend, fashion designer L'Wren Scott.
"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her, Mick," the rocker posted to his Facebook page along with a photo.

Robin Thicke is experiencing more than vocal troubles, but he will resume his 15-city U.S. tour on Thursday.
The "Blurred Lines" singer, 36, posted the following statement on his website on Wednesday: "I want to thank everyone for the well wishes these last few days. My fans mean everything to me. I'm looking forward to getting back on out on the road and performing in Washington DC this Thursday, and the rest of the tour. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!"
After news broke on Monday that the crooner and his wife of eight years, Paula Patton, 38, decided to separate, he canceled three consecutive shows on his tour, which was set to kick off last Friday.
Thicke scrapped shows in Atlanta, Orlando, and Cherokee, North Carolina, blaming vocal trouble. At the time, he told his fans, "I never want to let down my fans but I have unfortunately lost my voice and cannot perform tomorrow night."

Romeo Santos has more than a sexy name.
The Aventura singer, 32, is sizzling hot right now and is gearing up to release his second solo album, "Formula Volume 2," on Feb. 25. The "king of bachata" caught up with Yahoo as he was shooting his "one of one" Dr Pepper campaign in New York City and dished about his new album, which will be packed with star power.
"We have Drake and Nicki Minaj. Drake had mentioned my group, Aventura, in a song. He said, 'Spanish girls love me like I'm Aventura.' I was like you know what, let's give it a shot and see if he wants to participate in the album," Santos revealed. "I have songs that not only talk about love, but social themes, sad songs. I am just trying to show a lot of diversity on this album."
Since his album has several love songs, we figured it might be important to learn more about Romeo's softer side. He opened up about his favorite movie to watch on Valentine's Day, how he's serenaded women, and who his first on-screen crush was.

Jennifer Lopez sure has come a long way from the block! The sexy songstress hit Fox's 2014 Winter TCA Press Tour in Los Angeles on Monday and looked hotter than she did nearly 20 years ago when she got her first big break in the 1997 award-winning flick, "Selena." The 44-year-old showcased her killer curves in a black Ermano Scervino dress, which she paired with a set of Jimmy Choo heels, diamond hoop earrings, and a bright orange lip color. She polished off her head-turning ensemble with sleek, blown-out curls. Later that day, she stopped by "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." The famous chat show host took her on a trip down memory lane by reminding her of her first appearance on his show 17 years ago. "You had a star power that was exciting," Leno complimented. "And you look exactly the same!" Even J.Lo herself joked that she hasn't changed a bit by posting a shot on Instagram of her appearance on Leno with the caption, "J &J #samegirl." Fans of the pop powerhouse will remember that she posted another shot on Instagram on Dec. 30 with the same hashtag, where was posing at the subway station in her old Bronx neighborhood in a pair of figure hugging jeans, heeled booties, a puffy jacket, and a Yankees hat. The hashtag is referencing her new track "Same Girl," in which she sings about going back to her old neighborhood in New York City. While the mother-of-two appears to be same girl at heart, she certainly isn't the same girl in the fashion department. We'd beg that the Bronx-bred bombshell looks better than ever with her lightened locks and buff bod, which she's regularly been putting on display as she promotes "American Idol" and her upcoming album. Despite that, she admitted in an interview with "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" that her style isn't as planned out as we thought. "I lay down a couple of choices in the morning; then I choose while I am doing hair and makeup," she said of her style choices on the show. The "On the Floor" singer will head back to her old stomping grounds on Wednesday when she returns as a judge for Season 13 of "Idol" and we have to wonder if her spicy leather and lace look was just a ploy to get us to tune into the struggling singing competition. We gotta say J.Lo, if that was your plan, it is working.

There's no need to bite your nails. You don't have to choose.
Seth Rogen and James Franco have a little present for those of you whose eyes are still burning from last week's release of Kanye West's "Bound 2" music video, which features horses running through open fields and his bodacious fiancée, Kim Kardashian, without a shirt riding on a Harley with him.
The funnymen created a parody video of Kanye's jam — called "Bound 3" — for you to feast your eyes upon.
The video, which both actors tweeted out, begins with the warning, "While on the set of their movie, 'The Interview,' James Franco & Seth Rogen felt inspired to recreate their favorite new video. Shot. For. Shot."

Can Britney Spears ward off a group of swashbuckling pirates? According to the British Royal Navy, the answer is aye aye, Captain.
The "Toxic" singer's catchy early hits like "Oops! I Did It Again" and "...Baby One More Time" have been used by naval officers to ward off Somali pirates off the east coast of Africa.
"Her songs were chosen by the security team because they thought the pirates would hate them most," Merchant Navy Second Officer Rachel Owens, who works on supertankers, told Metro UK.
Heavily armed Somali pirates regularly target cargo ships in the area and collected more than $40 million in goods in 2012, but according to a report presented to the United Nations Security Council, pirate attacks are at their lowest since 2006. In the first nine months since 2013, only 17 vessels have been attacked compared to 99 attacks in the same time period in the previous year.

Major League Baseball better get ready for a world-class performance!
Yahoo Music can exclusively reveal that Mary J. Blige has been tapped to sing the national anthem at Game 1 of the 2013 World Series on Wednesday, when the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals take the field at Fenway Park.
"It is an honor to have the opportunity to perform the National Anthem," Blige, who has sold more than 50 million records, including eight multiplatinum albums, nine Grammy Awards (plus 29 nominations) and four American Music Awards, dished. "I've conducted countless performances across the globe throughout my illustrious career, but performing the anthem at Yankees Stadium during the 2009 World Series was beyond a thrill, and so I'm looking forward to again being a part of baseball's great history."
While she's clearly a fan of America's favorite pastime, Blige has also been busy working on a grandslam of her own: her new holiday album, "A Mary Christmas," which she released October 15.
