"Gangnam Style" ranks even higher on the Hot Digital Songs chart, which measures only sales. It leaps from #25 to #4 on that chart, based on sales of 188K copies. "Gangnam Style" is a global pop phenomenon. It has already reached the top 10 in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, New Zealand and South Korea.
Psy (real name: Park Jae-sang) is a 34-year old performer who was born in South Korea. In the tracking period, the busy Psy appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Today and Saturday Night Live.
"One More Night" is Maroon 5's third #1 hit, following "Makes Me Wonder" (three weeks on top in 2007) and "Moves Like Jagger" (featuring Christina Aguilera, four weeks on top in 2011). Phil Collins hit #1 in 1985 with an entirely different song titled "One More Night." It was his second of seven #1 solo hits. Like Adam Levine, Collins juggled solo and group projects. Collins was the drummer and lead singer for Genesis.
"We Are Never Ever…" has not yet been made available to on-demand streaming services, which hurt its chances of holding on to the top spot on the Hot 100 (which combines radio airplay, digital sales and streaming points.) By contrast, "One More Night" posted a 16% gain in on-demand streams, according to Nielsen BDS.
Pop titans Max Martin and Shellback produced and co-wrote "One More Night" and co-produced and co-wrote "We Are Never Ever...," giving them back-to-back #1 hits.
.fun's "Some Nights" jumps from #4 to #3. The song tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week, making the New York-based outfit the first group or duo to land two 2 million sellers in 2012. "Some Nights" follows "We Are Young" (featuring Janelle Monae), which has sold 5,574,000 copies so far this year. Three solo artists, Katy Perry, Flo Rida and Wiz Khalifa, have also landed two 2 million sellers in 2012.
P!nk had three top five hits ("Most Girls," the all-star "Lady Marmalade" and "Get The Party Started") in her first burst of success in 2000-2001. Since 2008, she has had four more ("So What," "Raise Your Glass," "F**kin Perfect" and now "Blow Me…").
P!nk's The Truth About Love is expected to enter The Billboard 200 at #1 next week, with sales in the 200K range. It would be P!nk's first #1 album.

"Clique" is vying to become the 15th top 10 hit for West, the 19th for Jay-Z and the third for Big Sean. This would be the fourth top 10 on which West and Jay-Z have collaborated, following "Swagga Like Us" (on which they were joined by T.I. and Lil Wayne), "Run This Town" (on which they were joined by Rihanna) and "Ni**as In Paris."
Nicki Minaj's "Pound The Alarm" jumps from #19 to #17 in its eighth week…Chris Brown's "Don't Wake Me Up" jumps from #24 to #21 in its 12th week...Hunter Hayes' "Wanted" jumps from #23 to #22 in its 21st week. The song jumps to #1 on Hot Country Songs. It's Hayes' first #1 country hit.
Miguel's "Adorn" jumps from #41 to #35 in its seventh week. The song is #1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for the second week…Taylor Swift's "Ronan" drops from #16 to #36 in its second week. Jepsen's Kiss is expected to enter The Billboard 200 in the top 10 next week, with sales in the 35K range…Beyonce's "Dance For You" jumps from #100 to #90 in its second week. It's from an album that has been out for nearly 15 months.
"Finally Found You" by Enrique Iglesias featuring Sammy Adams debuts at #94. It's from Euphoria Reloaded, an expanded edition of Iglesias' 2010 album…"Heart Skips A Beat" by Olly Murs featuring Chiddy Bang debuts at #96. The catchy pop song hit #1 in the U.K. a little more than a year ago…Justin Moore's "Til My Last Day" debuts at #98. It's from Outlaws Like Me…Green Day's "Oh Love" re-enters the chart at #100. The song has climbed as high as #97. It's from Uno!, which is due Sept. 25.
Nielsen SoundScan maintains a list of the best-selling "Dance/Electronic" songs in the site's history. Eight songs on the list have sold 2 million or more copies. Guetta has fully half of them. The other four are Cascada's "Everytime We Touch" (2,500,000), La Roux's "Bulletproof" (2,324,000), Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina's "Stereo Love" (2,226,000) and Calvin Harris' "Feel So Close" (2,089,000).
One Direction's "One Thing" tops the 1 million mark this week. This is the group's second million-seller in a row. "What Makes You Beautiful" has sold 3,451,000 copies. OD is the first boy band to have back-to-back million-sellers since Jonas Brothers scored in 2008 with "When You Look Me In The Eyes" (1,128,000) and "Burnin' Up" (1,791,000).
