Could Beyonce Have Stopped Kanye From Ruining Taylor’s Moment?

Can Beyonce share some of the blame for Kanye West's MTVVideo Music Award meltdown that resulted in him ruining Taylor Swift's firstBest Female Video win moment?

The "Halo" singer recently told O Magazine editor-at-largeGayle King that Kanye talked to her before he rushed to the stage.

According to MTV, Beyonce addressed the incident Fridayafter accepting the Woman of the Year honor at the Billboard Awards.

"Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing upfor art. And he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, 'Youhave this award,'" Beyonce explained. "And when they didn't call my name hewas, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, 'No,no, no!' And then he spoke, and I was like, 'Oh, no, no, no!'"

Beyonce felt some relief because the spotlight ultimatelyreturned to Taylor."It ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment, and Ididn't have to make an acceptance speech," Beyonce added.

I am surprised to hear Beyonce's side of the story. When Iwrote my initial blog immediately after watching Kanye's tirade, I made thepoint that he clearly did not have any friends who were able to be honest withhim.

The fact that he told Beyonce that he was upset makes meconsider how Beyonce could have handled the situation.

While we all need friends who will tell us when we are outof line, at the end of the day, we are responsible for our actions. So I don'tconsider Beyonce an accomplice in this case.

However, I think that Beyonce could have made more of aneffort to deter Kanye from humiliating Taylor.

Let's try some role playing based on Beyonce's account ofwhat happened.

VMA Announcer:The nominees for Best Female Video are...

Kanye: Oh,Beyonce, you have this award.

Beyonce: *smile*

VMA Announcer:And the winner is...

Kanye:*fidgeting, sitting on the edge of his seat*

Beyonce: *givingKanye, the evil eye a mother gives her child who is throwing a tantrum in thegrocery store*

Kanye: *eyes rollback* Oh, h*** no! H***-to-tha-naw!

Beyonce: KANYE! *grabshis arm to stop him from moving* You better not embarrass me. It's okay. SITDOWN. I am NOT playing with you! *gives him the evil eye again* Amber Rose, youbetter grab your man!

--The End--

Unfortunately, waiting until Kanye got on stage to start saying"No, no, no" was waaaaaay too late. (Wait a minute. Wasn't "No, No, No"Beyonce's first hit with Destiny's Child, when she was 17?)

Kanye has a history of getting out of line at award shows. So once he started getting agitated it should have been clear that his nextmove would be rushing the stage.

Consider this. We all have at least one friend who is rude, and will embarrass the entire group when out in public. We already know whatsets them off, and can tell before it happens. And sometimes we don't invitethem places. Kanye is that person.

We need to create a buddy system program for rude people. Itcan be modeled after the Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk campaign. I'lllet you know when I come up with the slogan.
