Hey, you know Nicki Minaj, the Lil' Wayne protégé who just landed a majoropportunity to open Rihanna's LastGirl On Earth tour?

Well, she has withdrawn from the line up, the Young Moneyfront woman announcedWednesday via her NickiMinaj Twitterpage. "I'm sorry 2 say I will not be going out on RiRi's tour," Nicki Minajtweeted. "I've decided 2 use that time 4 the completion of my album. Hope uunderstand."

Three hours later, Nicki Minaj thanked her fans for theirunderstanding. "And Thanks to Rihanna 4 being a sweetheart and extending thisgreat opportunity 2 me. Support the show! Luv, HB"

In one sense, I think it is unprofessional to pull out of amajor tour just two days after the press release was serviced and news outletspicked up the story.

But there is no denying that Nicki Minaj is one of thehottest new artists to come around in years. Aside from being taken under thewings of Lil' Wayne, she is the goto feature artist with recent collabs withUsher ("Lil'Freak"), Mariah Carey ("UpOut My Face"), Ludacris ("MyChick Bad"), and an endless list of others.

If she hopes to capitalize on her popularity, she shouldmake sure her album is up to par and ready to go. It is critical to release an albumat the right time. Missing the moment would mean less sales.

So while I feel bad that Rihanna has to endure theembarrassment of having a rookie artist drop out in the midst of building hypefor the tour, I hope that Nicki Minaj makes good on the decision by ultimatelydelivering a solid album.

The pressure's on Nicki Minaj.

Rihanna's Last Girl OnEarth tour launches on July 2 in Seattle.
