‘Super Thief’ Rick James Lookalike on the Run After Robbing Banks

Why be a super freak, when you can be a super thief?

That might be what one money-hungry Rick James fan asked himself when he decided to rob an Indianapolis bank dressed as the R&B legend. But in addition to invoking the spirit of Rick James, the robber brought along a partner who – in keeping with the funky costume direction – was dressed as the character Youngblood Priest from the 1972 film Super Fly.

On Saturday, the two fled Indiana Members Credit Union with an unknown amount of money and are suspected of robbing another Indiana bank a few days later. This time, the Rick James impostor stayed in character while his accomplice ditched his Super Fly get-up for a more contemporary Colts hat. Both wore bright orange construction vests; apparently in a further attempt to seem “undercover."

And while the whole story is pretty ridiculous, reports say that both criminals are still armed and on the run. Although if they remain in costume, it shouldn’t take police long to catch them – the real Rick James died in 2004.
