Will Smith Raps About Electric Cars, Sofia Vergara on First Song in Decade

Not to be outdone by his son Jaden, Will Smith has returned to rapping. The man who once shamelessly coined the phrase “Big Willie Style” is featured on a new remix of a song called “Fiesta” by Colombian group Bomba Estéreo.

Smith hasn’t released new music since 2005’s Lost and Found, but “Fiesta” continues his tradition of making fun party music. Although, between all the boasts, he also manages to name-check Colombian actress Sofia Vergara (“trying to find me a Sofia Vergara / on the dance floor to tear up”) and, strangely enough, electric car company Tesla (“No gas in me / I’m a Tesla”).

Last month, Smith shared a Facebook photo of himself with Bomba Estéreo, congratulating them on their Latin Grammy nomination. Apparently, earlier in the year while visiting Colombia, he heard their carnival-inspired dance track and reached out asking to collaborate on the remix. Band member Simón Mejia reacted appropriately, saying in a statement: “This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of. It's not a traditional featuring -- it's just magic.”

It’s possible that the remix will inspire Smith to officially release new music. Back in February, he confirmed he has recorded seven or eight songs with Kanye West.

We can only cross our fingers, but for a sure thing, check out Yahoo Live tonight for a streaming concert from Warren Haynes. Watch the show at 6:45 p.m. PT exclusively here. Make yourself at home.
