First the 'NSYNC reunion with Timberlake and now this?!

Music fans around the world's ears perked up when former 'NSYNC band member Lance Bass announced on his Instagram page this morning that he was back in the studio producing his first track as a solo artist.

"Here's the big news!" he wrote. "THIS just happened last night! My debut single is done! I will reveal all on today's ["Dirty Pop with Lance Bass"] show at 6pm east Sirius XM [OutQ] 109 ( and yes that's how a bass singer hits high notes , on his toes)"

The track is produced by Anise K and K C Porter. But Yahoo Music caught up first with the newly-engaged (and very busy) singer, to bring you all of the details, just on the edge of his gig co-hosting the American Music Awards "Red Carpet Live" this Sunday.

WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE NEW SONG?

When I first heard it I thought "Holy! This would be the most amazing Rhianna song!" I took that as a sign to snag the song quick and record it. Anise K from Australia wrote it and will be performing it with me and the lovely budding new artist Bella Blue. She has a stunning voice!

Grammy winning producing superstar K C Porter produced the track with Anise. It will be called 'Walking On Air' and should be out in just a few weeks. We film the video tomorrow (Friday).

Bella already released this song a few months ago in a few countries and it blew up. Marc Schaffel decided to make the worldwide release of the song wwith Bella and me.

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO GET BACK INTO THE RECORDING STUDIO?

I have been threatening to get back into the studio for a couple of years now. The television writing part of my life delayed me until now. I finally sold my scripted series I have been working on to E! called 'The Machine.' It's all about the good, bad, and ugly surrounding a fictitious music industry in 2014. Now with that set to film next year, I (finally) felt I have some room in my life to play around with a single.

DID THE 'NSYNC VMA REUNION INFLUENCE YOU TO DO THIS? IF SO, HOW?

The VMAs definitely whetted my appetite to get back on stage, but the song really did fall into my lap. Marc Schaffel, who I knew while working with Michael Jackson, happened to be on my flight one day from New Orleans to L.A. We were catching up and discussing the fun days we had in the studio. I guess that chance reunion made him think of me when he and Anise K were thinking of whom they wanted to sing their song. He sent me the song to listen to and the rest was history as they say.

HAD YOU THOUGHT ABOUT THIS FOR A WHILE?

Like I said, I have been looking for that debut single for a couple of years now. I had heard demo after demo and nothing caught my attention. I had no idea it would go so quickly though. I was in the studio just days after hearing it for the first time. And it looks like it will be released in just a few weeks! Back in MY day... LOL (the process took longer).

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU SEE YOURSELF MAKING SOLO, AS OPPOSED TO THE POP MUSIC YOU DID WITH 'NSYNC?

I love dance tracks that have amazing vocals. It gets me energized and it's what gets you to the dance floor at the clubs. My soul is country and blues. I made it big as a pop star. And I blare salsa and old French pop at the house! My taste is very eclectic and confusing as an artist. I just want to make great records. One song might remind you of Marc Broussard and the next Katy Perry. I don't know where I will land in this industry, but I will enjoy making every record I do and not worry about the rest.

ARE YOU WORKING ON A FULL ALBUM? OR IS THIS SINGLE A ONE-OFF TRIAL?

I am not. I wouldn't realistically have the time this next year to work on a full album. I have a SiriusXM talk show I just signed on to do another year of, a house under construction, hopefully a runaway hit series on E!, and all while planning to wed the love of my life!

I'm actively listening to demos now, so if one knocks my socks off like 'Walking On Air' did, I would jump in the studio immediately. Thank God it's a "singles market" these days.

YOU'RE A VERY BUSY MAN NOW … YOU HAVE YOUR HANDS IN RADIO AND TV PROJECTS — YOU EVEN JUST DIRECTED YOUR FIRST SHORT FILM (FOR THE TREVOR PROJECT) … WHERE DOES MUSIC FALL ON THE PRIORITY LIST FOR YOU NOW?

I will let the public decide that. Whether I'm on the radio, TV, stage or behind the scenes producing and writing — I'm diving head first in it all next year. We will see what sticks.

A FINAL TONGUE-IN-CHEEK QUESTION … WOULD YOU EVER CONSIDER SINGING AT YOUR OWN WEDDING (TO MICHAEL)?

Hahaha! Only if Michael joins me on the rap part! No one knows that Michael's hidden talent is that he is an amazing rapper! True story.
