See Lady Gaga Au Naturel!

Lady Gaga has become famous for her chameleon-like ability to change from a platinum vixen to a bizarre brunette bombshell, literally overnight. The pop star's most shocking move lately? Posting a photo and video of herself without any elaborate wigs and hardly any makeup, looking virtually unrecognizable.

The "Applause" singer uploaded a selfie on Instagram on Sunday sans any wigs or fancy adornments, except for a paradoxically glamorous pearl earring. Sporting her very own two-toned hair — blond at the roots and black at the bottom — the singer born Stefani Germanotta looked straight ahead at the camera with an inquisitive look.

Accompanying the au naturel photo was the caption: "Personal record for wig changes in one day. Usually means my soul is restless. Life's too short to wear one hat." Gaga had been in Tokyo promoting her recent "ARTPOP" album by unveiling striking life-sized silicon dolls of herself. Looking more like her usual self, Gaga presented the dolls while wearing an elaborate blond-and-blue wig with Princess Leia-style buns and a bizarre red plaid ensemble.

Earlier in the week she posted a glamorous photo of herself in an elaborate bodice adorned with Botticelli images, wearing another multi-colored wig and Japanese anime-inspired makeup, with the caption, "Lot of changes happening in my life, schedules been crazy, but I'm finally feeling like me again. Nobody holding me back, I can just be myself. Feels good. Paws up."

But later she was back to her natural look again, and posted a short video clip of herself, without any wigs or elaborate makeup, rocking out to "Applause" and smoking a cigar with a friend in the back of a car.

The "Paparazzi" singer is no stranger to stripping down for the cameras. In a 2011 feature for Harper's Bazaar, "The Real Lady Gaga: The Photos," she pulled her hair back and wore little to no cosmetics. She has also posted similar images on her Twitter page and LittleMonsters site.
