"Pitch Perfect" was the top-selling soundtrack of 2013. The soundtrack from the "Glee"-inspired movie sold 793K copies during the year. This makes up for the fact that no "Glee" albums made the year-end list of top soundtracks for the second straight year. (The "Glee" phenomenon peaked in 2010 when six of the year's top 10 soundtracks were drawn from the Fox show.)

"Pitch Perfect" was one of three soundtracks that sold more than 500K copies each during the year. "The Great Gatsby" and "Les Miserables" were the others. It's the first time that three soundtracks to theatrically-released movies sold 500K copies each during a calendar year since 2009, when four such albums hit the mark.

"Pitch Perfect" and "Les Miserables" also ranked among the top 10 soundtracks of 2012. "Pitch Perfect" sold 212K copies that year (and ranked #6 among that year's top soundtracks). "Les Miserables" sold 178K copies that year (and ranked #10).

"Teen Beach Movie" was the year's top TV soundtrack (and #4 among all soundtracks). The Disney Channel original movie aired on July 19. It's the best showing for the soundtrack from a TV original movie since "Lemonade Mouth," also a Disney Channel property, was the #1 soundtrack of 2011.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is #7 for the year. "The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 And Beyond" was #1 for 2012.

The top 10 soundtracks of 2013 are evenly divided between theatrically-released movies and TV projects. The other TV-related albums in the top 10 are two albums from the ABC series "Nashville," an album from the Disney Channel's "Shake It Up 3" and the Vince Guaraldi Trio's "A Charlie Brown Christmas," which has been a perennial since the classic Peanuts special first aired on CBS in 1965.
