Justin Bieber’s ‘Simpsons’ cameo was only 10 seconds long

Justin Bieber fans were dealt a devastating blow on Sunday night when their idol's much-hyped appearance on "The Simpsons" turned out to be only 10 seconds long. In the scene, the swish-haired singer kicks off after he is denied entry into a talent contest for children under 10.

"That's another 25 bucks we'll never see!' he exclaims.

Slightly funnier was the text that appeared onscreen before and after the Ontario native's appearance, which spoofed Bieber's fans' infamous passion.

"Thirty seconds to Justin Bieber -- you may start or stop watching, according to your beliefs," one read.

After he appeared, another message appeared: "All clear -- 'The Simpsons' will be Bieber-free from this point on."

Over the weekend, "Simpsons" producer Al Jean admitted the Biebs was shoehorned into the show after creator Matt Groening requested it.

"I think he has a family member who was a fan," Jean told Rolling Stone. "I think he's a fan, too. So he asked us to find a place to use him. I think [Bieber] had also met Matt and wanted to be on the show."

But Sunday wasn't a complete bust for all Bieber fans. For Mother's Day, the pop star serenaded his mother, Patti Mallette, with his hit tune "One Less Lonely Girl" onstage during his South African concert.

“Happy Mother’s Day pattie mallette. Today u r (you are) my OLLG. Love u," Bieber tweeted, adding, with a photo of the duo from the Johannesburg gig, "I love my momma. great night tonight."

A video on YouTube shows Bieber's mom joining him onstage at the end of the song. According to Mallette, the moment was totally unexpected.

“So yep… justin bieber surprised me for mother’s day tonight & brought me out for OLLG! very sweet,” she tweeted.

And in other surprising Bieber news, it seems that his ex is back on the market (again). On Friday, Selena Gomez surprised fans by announcing on Boston's Kiss 108 radio show "Matty in the Morning" that she was single, despite recent photos suggesting otherwise.

"No strings attached?" the interviewer said, to which Gomez replied, "Nope."

He then added, "Free and loose?" To which she replied, "Yep."

When he further clarified that Gomez was "completely available in every way," she once again replied, "Yep."
