Natasha Henstridge and Darius Campbell file for divorce after 2 years of marriage

"The Secret Circle" star Natasha Henstridge sure kept a big secret of her own: a two-year marriage to Scottish singer Darius Campbell.

The 38-year-old Canadian actress's marriage to the contestant from the 2002 U.K. reality series "Pop Idol" was kept mostly under wraps, and only emerged in the wake of the couple's split. “We decided to file for divorce and we ask for privacy at this time," Campbell told the Mail Online on Monday. "We filed the divorce papers today. It was a mutual decision.”

Since when has Henstridge been romancing a reality star? According to the Mail, the couple met in 2004 (though Hello! magazine claims it was 2006) and wed in Los Angeles in 2011 on Valentine's Day. Henstridge reportedly told Hello! that Campbell suggested a week before the big day that they elope. "We love Valentine's, we're both a bit cheesy like that, so I said, 'Why not?'" she explained.

Their nuptials were a secret affair at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, where only Henstridge's two sons attended. "We realized with everyone's schedules it was easier to do something romantic and special just for us," Campbell said.

The hush-hush affair came as a surprise, considering Henstridge had told Hello! back in 2009 that she and her beau were planning to invite friends and family to wedding receptions in Canada and the U.K. "We'll have a party in Newfoundland, where I'm from. Something really casual — like a lobster boil or boating on the ocean with my family," she said. "And then a Persian-themed bash in Scotland with his family."

But then the couple reportedly split briefly a year later, only to get engaged once they reunited. This time, Henstridge was "impressed" by her sons' ability to keep the ceremony a secret. "We didn't tell our parents for a few days afterwards. We wanted to be together and enjoy it for a while," the Newfoundland-born actress said. "It was really spontaneous. It was a very hard secret to keep!"

Henstridge has reportedly been less secretive about the couple's separation. According to the Mail, she tweeted on Wednesday morning, "Stranded from my own house and yet apparently that's where I'm supposedly living right now. ... Truth always prevails." The message was reportedly deleted soon after.

The Canadian actress was previously married to actor and producer Damian Chapa from 1995 until 1996. She was subsequently in a relationship from 1996 to 2004 with actor Liam Waite, with whom she had her two sons, Tristan (1998) and Asher (2001).
