Selena Gomez: Justin Bieber and I ‘never really focused on the attention’

Selena Gomez is on and off about Justin Bieber in more ways than one. Not only is the 20-year-old “Come and Get It" singer frequently splitting and reuniting with the Canadian pop star, but she now appears to be giving paradoxical information about their relationship.

For the June cover of InStyle magazine (on newsstands May 17), Gomez spoke about her "crazy and very intense" romance with Bieber, which was recently rekindled.

“It’s uncomfortable that everywhere I go, people know,” she told the publication. “I don’t like that. But Justin and I never really focused on the attention."

But wait a minute -- didn't Gomez recently suggest she and the Biebs were not on the same page about the press? In a cover story for the April issue of Harper's Bazaar, she said of the media spotlight on their romance: "That's not a factor for me, because unfortunately you can't control that." Though she didn't come right out and say it was a factor for the Biebs, we are all familiar with her boyfriend's rocky relationship with the press.

Gomez was clear about one thing, though: the song "Love Will Remember," off her upcoming album "Stars Dance," is a break-up ode to the 19-year-old Canadian musician. InStyle describes the track, which has not yet been released, as leaving the listener "with the sense that it may not have been her idea to end things—or that it might have been hers, but it was because he left her no choice."

The former "Wizards of Waverly Place" star considers it a "sweet" release. "It’s not an aggressive approach to what people are probably expecting," Gomez said. “I’m sure he’ll love it too.”

But the Disney alum was unwilling to predict whether the duo would be together in the future. "You can’t help who you date. So I wouldn’t swear off that or say that’s what I want again," she said, adding, "I have to go through the emotions and feel it out. I’m doing my own thing, being with my friends, and he’s doing very well too.”
