‘Veronica Mars’: Where are they now?

It looks like we’re all going back to Neptune! Devoted fans of the cult TV teen mystery series “Veronica Mars” have been in agony since the show went off the air in 2007 after only three seasons. But it looks like their undying passion has finally paid off, since creator Rob Thomas announced that a movie got the greenlight after a Kickstarter campaign he on this Wednesday reached its $2 million goal in an astonishing nine hours.

The star of the series, Kristen Bell, wrote a short note to her fans on the record-breaking Kickstarer page.

“I am currently the happiest blonde in a hamster ball the world has ever seen. We have been waiting so long to make this movie dream a movie reality, and it’s because of YOUR commitment, YOUR persistence, that we finally have a chance. We just have one more step to go,” she wrote. “You have banded together like the sassy little honey badgers you are and made this possibility happen. i promise if we hit our goal, we will make the sleuthiest, snarkiest, it’s-all-fun-and-games-‘til-one-of-you-gets-my-foot-up-your-ass movie we possibly can.“

With 29 days still left in the fundraiser’s lifespan, who knows what kind of blockbuster we’ll have on our hands in 2014? In the meantime, here’s what the “Veronica Mars” cast has been up to in the dark, dark years since we’ve last visited Neptune, California.

Kristen Bell

Here’s an easy one. The now 32-year-old followed up her leading role in “Veronica Mars” in 2008 with the hit comedy “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” that made Bell, Jason Segel, and Russell Brand household names. Since then, she has reprised her Sarah Marshall role in a cameo in “Get Him to the Greek,” and starred in other feature films like "When In Rome” and “Hit and Run” – both co-starring her current fiancé, Dax Shepard. But she’s still queen of the small screen, providing the mysterious narration for the teen drama “Gossip Girl” from 2007 to 2012, the no-nonsense caterer Uda Bengt in Rob Thomas’s next show “Party Down,” and currently as the up-and-coming businesswoman Jeannie Van Der Hooven in the Showtime series “House of Lies” with Don Cheadle.

This summer, she’ll have to juggle the “Veronica Mars” movie with motherhood, since she’s about to have her first child with Shepard very soon.

Percy Daggs III

Percy Daggs III, 30, has kept relatively quiet since playing Veronica’s right-hand man in crime solving, Wallace Fennel. His résumé boasts guest appearances on “Southland” and “Raising the Bar,” and the role “Jock Kid” in the 2011 comedy horror “Detention,” starring Josh Hutcherson and Dane Cook. He’s also known for Orbitz gum and Hot Pockets commercials.

Jason Dohring

Dohring, who played Veronica’s on-again off-again love interest Logan Echolls, found guest starring roles on TV shows like “Lie to Me,” “CSI,” “Supernatural,” and Rob Thomas’s “Party Down,” since 2007. The 30-year-old also scored starring turns in “Moonlight” and “Ringer,” both unfortunately lasting only one season.

Enrico Colantoni

Veronica Mars’s private eye father Keith Mars was played by Toronto’s own Enrico Colantoni, and he has kept pretty busy since 2007. He has played big names in several biopics, like J. Edgar Hoover in the TV mini-series “The Kennedys” with Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes, and René Angélil in the TV movie “Céline.” The 50-year-old actor also currently starring in the CBS series “Person of Interest” as mob boss Carl Elias. Another big project he’s known for in Canada is as Sgt. Greg Parker in the CTV series “Flashpoint” – a role he took because of his brother Hector Colantoni, who has worked as a Toronto police officer for years. Colantoni is also a spokesperson for the Tema Conter Memorial Trust, which helps police and emergency crews deal with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Amanda Seyfried

Seyfried won "Veronica Mars" fans over as Lily Kane, Veronica's best friend who was murdered at the start of Season 1 and was seen primarily in flashbacks. Since the show ended, the 27-year-old has skyrocketed to fame with starring roles in movies like "Mamma Mia!," "Dear John," and the Oscar-nominated adaptation of "Les Miserables." (And, of course, how could we forget her hilarious turn as Karen in "Mean Girls"?) She'll next be seen in the Linda Lovelace biopic "Lovelace."

Teddy Dunn

Dunn played Duncan Kane, one of Veronica's boyfriends on "Veronica Mars" (except for that period where he thought they were brother in sister -- thank goodness that turned out to be false!). The 32-year-old left "Veronica Mars" partway through Season 2, and since then, he has guest starred on "Grey's Anatomy," appeared in the 2008 film "Jumper," and attended law school at Boston College.

Ryan Hansen

Hansen was fantastic as the cute-but-jerky Dick Casablancas on "Veronica Mars," and the 31-year-old has been working steadily ever since the show was cancelled. He starred in the short-lived NBC sitcom "Friends with Benefits" (not to be confused with the Mila Kunis/Justin Timberlake movie) and on Rob Thomas's other beloved-but-cancelled TV show, "Party Down." He recently wrapped up a multi-episode guest arc on "2 Broke Girls," and played the sexy-but-disinterested suitor Blaze on the second season of the "Burning Love" web series.

Francis Capra

Bike gang leader Eli “Weevil” Navarro wasn’t the last tough guy role for Francis Capra – he has appeared since in “Sons of Anarchy,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Heroes” (which also starred Kristen Bell”) and “Bones.” Though the 29-year-old hasn’t had a major role since “Veronica Mars,” you might know him best for his earliest roles – Elvis in “Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home” and Max in the 1996 Shaquille O’Neal flick “Kazaam.”

Chris Lowell

Lowell joined "Veronica Mars" in its third season as Stosh "Piz" Piznarski, Veronica’s college boyfriend. Now 28, Lowell was featured in 2009 hit “Up In the Air” with George Clooney and Anna Kendrick, as well as the 2011 Oscar winner “The Help” with Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain. He also turned a brief role on “Grey’s Anatomy” as William “Dell” Parker into a recurring role on the spinoff “Private Practice” with Kate Walsh from 2007 to 2010.

He’s also the lead singer for the acoustic band, Two Shots for Poe.

Tina Majorino

Majorino won us over as Neptune’s biggest computer wiz Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie on "Veronica Mars," but she's also known as the little girl in “Corrina, Corrina,” the girl with the pet seal in “Andre,” and Deb from “Napoleon Dynamite.” The 28-year-old isn’t as well known today as she was in the 1990s and mid-aughties (because, really, she was pretty much everywhere). But she’s still working, last seen as Genevieve Shaw in “Bones,” Molly in the fifth season of “True Blood,” currently as Meredith’s intern Heather Brooks on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

She also voiced the iconic role of Deb in the short-lived animated TV series of “Napoleon Dynamite.”

Now, the real mystery is what Rob Thomas has in store for them all in the "Veronica Mars" movie!
