Danny Gokey Ties The Knot
Wedding bells rang for American Idol alum Danny Gokey this weekend, as the country crooner said "I do" to his girlfriend, Leyicet Perlata, on Sunday.
According to People, the happy couple wed in Florida in a relatively intimate ceremony with around 100 friends and family present. Details included a "romance and love" theme, as well as a tiered chocolate wedding cake at the reception.
This is the second marriage for the 31-year-old Gokey--who, as AI fans well know, tragically lost his first wife in 2008 after complications from routine heart surgery.
"We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together," the newlyweds said in a statement to People. "We pray our gratitude grows more every day because there is so much for us to do now."
The pair are dedicated to working on Gokey's children's charity Sophia's Heart, which he founded in honor of his late wife. In fact, the couple asked for donations to the foundation in lieu of traditional wedding gifts for their big day.
