Dierks Bentley’s Father Passes Away

Our condolences go out to Dierks Bentley, who has just lost his father, Leon Bentley.

"My dad died yesterday," Bentley tweeted on Saturday. "It was an honor to comfort him as he left us. thank you fans for the time and understanding."

The singer posted a moving photo to Twitter of two clasped hands--apparently one his, and one belonging to his 88-year-old father. No details are yet available regarding the nature of his dad's passing.

Due to his dad's illness, Bentley was forced to cancel a performance in Washington DC, where he was scheduled to play after a Nationals game. Big & Rich stepped up to fill his absence.

Bentley's next scheduled appearance, June 6 at the Last Call Ball 8 in Nashville, has been canceled and will be rescheduled as soon as possible. "Thank you all for your unwavering support and understanding," reads a note on his official website.

Bentley plans to resume his performance schedule starting with a June 9 appearance at the WYCD Downtown Hoedown in Detroit. He will also be at his June 10 set at the CMA Music Festival's nightly concert at LP Field in Nashville.

Thoughts and prayers for the Bentley family. Be sure to leave your condolences here for him as well.
