Leave it to Dolly Parton--even when being recognized for her business acumen, the legendary entertainer always manages to insert a bit of her trademark humor-loving personality.
Upon accepting the 2010 Liseberg Applause Award--the most prestigious honor granted by the amusement park industry--for her Tennessee-based entertainment park Dollywood on Tuesday, Parton quipped, "Walt Disney became successful because he had Mickey Mouse who has two big ears. So I figured I could be successful with Dollywood with my two big partners."
Dollywood, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and welcomes around 2.5 million visitors annually, joins the ranks of previous winners such as Opryland and Disney's Magic Kingdom.
In other news, Parton's official website announced Tuesday that she will be releasing an album of new material in 2011, with a world tour in support. The record is not yet titled, but will be coming out on her own label Dolly Records. The tour will launch in the United States starting in the summer of 2011, followed by stints in Europe and Australia.
