Gwyneth Paltrow To Perform Live At CMA Awards

Our Country

For a New York- and Los Angeles-bred actress who barely ever seems to have stepped foot in a red state over the course of her career, Gwyneth Paltrow is certainly making a fantastic splash in the country music world. This year alone, she's scored the lead role in the upcoming Nashville drama Country Strong, and landed on the country charts singing the title track to the film.

And now, it's just been announced she'll be appearing live--not announcing; actually getting up and performing--at the Country Music Awards in November.

This will be Paltrow's first (natch) appearance at the CMAs, and she'll be doing "Country Strong" (natch again). She'll have Vince Gill joining her on stage for the number, which I'm sure will be a good source of moral support, but I'm also sure this is going to be quite a new and possibly nerve-wracking experience for her.

One thing in her favor--Paltrow will undoubtedly come to the CMAs well-prepared. Like any good Oscar-winning actress, she has already taken a great deal of time researching her role in the movie, in which she portrays a faded country star seeking a career revival.

Her first order of business: A self-taught crash course in the country music genre. "I had never really known very much about country music," she recently admitted to the Associated Press. "I now am very into it. I know a lot more about it than I did."

Her method of learning country was simple. "[I] kind of just started at the beginning and went all the way through and found the people that I really love and who inspired me," she explained, citing Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn as classic examples.

Paltrow also named a few modern country stars that are rocking her world lately, including the currently buzzworthy Miranda Lambert.

So, all in all, given this intense study and her already proven ability to sing, I have to say I think she's going to do just fine on the CMA stage. I will also admit that this is the particular performance of the night I'm looking most forward to seeing. (Oh, yeah, I'm curious to see what she'll wear, too. Can't wait!)

The CMA Awards will be aired live November 10 on ABC. Are you looking forward to seeing Gwyneth Paltrow make her CMAs debut? Be sure to let me know!
