Miranda Lambert Explains Infamous Paparazzi Video

It's been a huge week for Miranda Lambert. Not only did she steal the show at the 2014 CMT Music Awards with an show-stopping performance of "Somethin' Bad" with Carrie Underwood, but her new album, Platinum, was released June 3.

She's also on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone. In the story, there's some funny stuff — like how she almost got into a bar fight with Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger. But she also gets serious, discussing how her and husband Blake Shelton's rise to superstardom in the past few years has dramatically changed their lives.

For example, two years ago, a YouTube video was posted of Blake and Miranda rushing through Times Square. Miranda got a little feisty, pulling Blake through a crowd of lookieloos and paparazzi, and politely explained to a fan that it was a bad time for a photo.

In her Rolling Stone interview, Miranda talks about what happened:

"We were in New York City and we were gonna walk to the Walgreens to get some lip gloss or whatever. And we walked around the corner and straight in the holding area of Letterman. And it was a mob. There were cameras, TMZ. And it just hit me: 'We're by ourselves. One of us has to be an a--hole right now.' I was wearing my workout clothes and no makeup, so I was like, 'Gotta go, guys, gotta get him to an interview. Make a hole!' My tour manager told me, 'You were using all of my lines!'"

The incident inspired one of Miranda's new songs, "Priscilla," which imagines a conversation with Priscilla Presley. The theme? Being a "permanent accessory" to a high-profile spouse. Here are some sample lyrics:

Bodyguard, didn't know I was his bodyguard
And I shouldn't have to play the part
At least while we're not in bed
You and me share a unique position
Married to a man who's married to attention
Couldn't think of anybody better to ask
How to be the first to make it last?

Blake and Miranda looked happier than ever at the CMT Music Awards this past week, where they picked up awards for, respectively, Male and Female Video of the Year. But that's not all the country power couple has to celebrate: Music industry analysts are predicting that Platinum will sell more than 175,000 copies in its first week and come in at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Country charts.
