Rascal Flatts Get Surprise Of A Lifetime On Opry Stage

Our Country

Rascal Flatts weren't expecting to get the surprise of their lives on Tuesday night. They just thought they were playing a regular old set at the Grand Ole Opry. And, it was business as usual--until Vince Gill made an unexpected appearance on stage.

Gill strode up to lead singer Gary LeVox and bantered with the band for a bit, joking about an unpaid golf debt, before suddenly becoming very serious.

"I came out for one reason only," he noted. "I'm here--gratefully and gladly so--to invite you guys to be the next members of the Grand Ole Opry."

The crowd then erupted into cheers, and the Flatts--well, understandably, they just simply looked stunned for a few seconds.

"We usually don't like surprises," said a flabbergasted Joe Don Rooney. "But I love this surprise!"

"You can't even put into words what this means to us," LeVox noted, his voice overcome with emotion. "When we first signed our record deal in 1999, our main goal was to play the Grand Ole Opry and someday be members of the Grand Ole Opry."

The official induction will be October 8, which happens to fall during the Opry's 86th birthday weekend. The Opry has a whole schedule of birthday bash events planned in addition to the Flatts' formal induction, which you can check out here.

Here's the video of Gill and the boys so you can see the whole touching event for yourselves. The look on LeVox's face after Gill's invitation is indescribable! You can see the "good part" starting right around the 1:50 mark.

Congrats to Rascal Flatts! Are you happy that the trio will be inducted into the Opry? Be sure to let me know your thoughts.
