Rascal Flatts Joins Taylor Swift’s Label; New Album Out This Fall

Our Country

I'm sure nobody was too worried about the fate of Rascal Flatts when the band's label, Disney's Lyric Street Records, announced back in April that it would be closing down. The matter at hand was not if the mega-successful country trio would find a new label home; it was when.

And now, just a mere three months later, the Flatts have announced where they're landing. They'll be joining Taylor Swift on Big Machine Records.

And, even more exciting news--they'll have their first Big Machine single out this week, and a new album out in November.

The band's statement on the move brims with excitement, saying the new label is "a perfect fit," and that CEO Scott Borchetta "understands us, he knows what we're about and it's always a wonderful thing to have someone who believes in you and your music that much in your corner."

Admittedly, the Flatts are a pretty easy bet to believe in. With this latest acquisition joining the already ultra-formidable Swift, Borchetta's independent label (founded in 2005) will have a pair of country's most-slam-dunkiest acts. In fact, not to be crass, but it wouldn't be inaccurate to change the name to Money Machine.

Rascal Flatts' new single is called "Why Wait"--perfect name, no?--and true to the title, you should be hearing it immediately, if not sooner. The album, which is in its final stages and will be released November 16, is titled Nothing Like This and marks the group's seventh studio release. Disney will retain the band's back catalog.

What do you think of the Flatts' new home? Are you rooting for a Swift/Flatts tour in the future? (Wishful thinking, but anything can happen, right?) Be sure to let me know!
