Allison Iraheta A Crybaby No More: She Signs A Record Deal!

I always adored Allison Iraheta. She was my favorite female on season 8 of American Idol, and in an alternate AmIdol universe--i.e., my personal, private dreamworld--she and Adam Lambert would have been the last two contestants standing.

Just reflect back on the awesomeness of Allison and Adam's "Slow Ride" duet and then IMAGINE how completely, head-explodingly amazing it would have been to witness those two rock 'n' roll showboaters belting out "We Are The Champions" with Queen on finale night. Allison could have even worn a girly pink version of Adam's Bob Mackie angel-wing-armor, or maybe she could have rocked a pair of lacy platform Kiss boots to match her Cyndi Lauper prom dress.

The mind boggles.

But sadly, Allison only came in fourth on American Idol. And my mind is actually still boggling over that. Simon Cowell often attributed Allison's lack of momentum and frequent undeserved showings in the bottom three to "likability" issues, but that boggled my mind even more. The kooky krazy-kolor hair, the wacky fashion sense, the brass-knuckled Pink Ladies-ish attitude, the husky voice that sounded like it belonged to a weathered, whiskey-slugging torch singer and not a snub-nosed high-schooler...really, what WASN'T there to like about Allison Iraheta?

Well, guess who likes Allison a whole lot? 19 Entertainment and Jive Records, that's who. See, it was revealed today--the day after Kris Allen's Jive Records deal was confirmed, and the same day that RCA Records announced the signing of Adam Lambert--that Allison has also officially signed to Jive. Her album will come out later this year, right around the same time as Kris's and Adam's. Woot!

"I think I'm still in shock that this is happening--getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!" Allison said in a statement issued today by 19...although I prefer to imagine her reading this statement aloud in that wonderfully Patty-&-Selma-esque rasp of hers.

Now all I need is for Norman Gentle to get his own record deal, and my dreamworld will finally be a reality.
