Last night, the "American Idol" top eight sang the songs of Motor City, and even though the contestants were paying homage to Detroit, it felt like they were still in Hollywood (Week)--at least during the three boys' horrific group number, which had a very angry Nicki Minaj flipping her blonde wig. Yes, some of last night's solo performances, particularly the game-changingly excellent one by Janelle Arthur, redeemed the episode. But the Nicki-infuriating performance by Burnell Taylor, Devin Velez, and Lazaro Arbos, followed by a very awkward (if understandable) public Lazaro-busing, all but ruined the night.
Yes, these are trying times for "Idol" fan like me and my "The Day After" cohost, Matt Whitfield. But we soldier on. Watch us talk about all the Motor City madness in our latest chatfest below!
