RuPaul’s Reality Video: What A Drag!

I know I'm late in blogging about RuPaul's Drag Race, aka the BEST SHOW EVER IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION. But this past weekend I caught the finale and reunion show of Ru's Logo Network search for America's next top drag queen...and I was so utterly transfixed, I quickly logged onto Logo's site and caught up on every single episode.

Because this show was soooo fierce, all the Drag Race cast members made Christian Siriano look like David Archuleta.

An episode on which the contestants were transformed into superheroines? A MAC/Viva Glam challenge? A girl-group show judged by former Destiny's Child Michelle Wililams? A recessionista-themed "Drag On A Dime" episode?

Former Project Runway villain Santino Rice on the judging panel? Contending queens with names like Ongina and Rebecca Glasscock, "lip-synching for their lives"? This show was groundbreaking, people!!

I'm actually not being facetious here. It was groundbreaking. RuPaul may not go down in history as a great singer or songwriter, but she will forever be known as the entertainer who introduced drag to the pop-music mainstream, and then to reality television.

It's actually kind of shocking that it look this long for a drag contest to make it onto the air--with the all compulsively watchable costumes and pageantry and show(wo)manship involved, such an entertainment concept would seem like a total no-brainer to me.

So I'm so delighted that RuPaul finally brought a crazy cast of larger-than-life queens to the small screen.

Below is RuPaul's new music video from Drag Race, "Cover Girl (Put The Bass In Your Walk)," starring the top three finalists: Pete Burns-inspired punk Nina Flowers, lifesized Barbie girl Rebecca, and the ultimate season 1 winner, stately Diahann Carroll lookalike Bebe Zahara Benet.

Hopefully these three mintues of fierceness and fabulosity will tide me over until season 2!
