Amy Yakima & Fik-Shun win Season 10!

It was a true fairytale ending, starring the prince and princess of Season 10, that couldn't have worked out better for "So You Think You Can Dance" if Nigel Lythgoe had scripted it. On the "SYTYCD" finale this Tuesday, onetime Paula Abdul protégé/untrained Vegas street performer DuShaunt "Fik-Shun" Stegall and his original "SYTYCD" partner, Amy Yakima, were crowned the show's co-winners, in a story arc that feelgood finales are made of.

Just a little over two years ago, Fik-Shun competed on Paula's CBS talent show, "Live to Dance," at age 16, and he only made it to that show's semifinals. And now here he was, in front of his old mentor Paula herself (who was a guest judge on the finale), winning the entire competition — despite having much less formal training than most of this year's other dancers. And when Fik-Shun danced on the finale alongside his idol, allstar Twitch Boss, it really felt like a torch-passing moment.

"Before I was just a performer, but now I can say I'm a dancer," Fik-Shun said proudly, as Paula beamed. Fik-Shun then burst into tears, exclaiming, "This means everything to me! I'm so happy, everybody!"

Adding sweetness to Fik-Shun's victory was the fact that he got to share it with his other dancing half, Amy, who actually received the most votes of anyone in the top four. Fik-Shun and Amy were this year's Cutest Couple, and even after they were separated once the show got down to a top 10, their combined power clearly still captivated America, propelling both of them to winners' circle at the season's end. Congratulations to them both.

This was all amazing news, but really everyone who's a fan of dance and this Emmy-nominated show was a winner this Tuesday…because Nigel revealed that "So You Think You Can Dance" has been officially renewed for an 11th season! The entire room burst into applause upon hearing his announcement, and I may or may not have jumped out of my seat and done a happy dance of my own. I have a feeling that we'll be seeing Fik-Shun and Amy — and this season's very worthy finalists, Aaron Turner and Jasmine Harper, both of whom I'd actually predicted would win this year — as allstars in Season 11. And I already cannot wait. Cue music!
