Beyoncé’s Tour Rider Still Isn’t as Crazy as Katy Perry’s

Stop The Presses!

Beyoncé has been pretty particular about controlling her environment in the past. For example, for her Super Bowl performance, she reportedly demanded that her daughter Blue Ivy’s nursery be decorated with rose-scented candles and that the infant's crib be shipped from New York to New Orleans. Also, apparently Beyoncé asked that her dressing room be stocked with expensive cigars and liquor for her husband, Jay-Z. And after the show, she tried to prevent the press from using unflattering photos of her performance.

Now, the diva seems to be upping the ante on those demands (which the NFL dismissed as fantasy). According to the U.K. tabloid Daily Star, Beyoncé’s rider for her London residency at the O2 arena (which runs through May 5) includes some fairly bizarre and expensive items.

To start, the pop superstar reportedly needs $900 "titanium drinking straws" to consume "special alkaline water served at exactly 21 degrees" and "hand-carved ice balls" to suck on. In addition, Beyoncé's backstage rider requires all members of her crew wear 100 percent pure cotton clothes, to prevent her having any type of allergic reaction. Okay, fair enough--but she also insists that her dressing room have "freshly painted white walls" and the bathroom be equipped with a "new toilet seat" and "red toilet paper."

Snacks must include oat cakes and "almonds served on glass platters." No junk food is allowed, and all salad bar fixings must be green.

Oh, and for the O2 shows, Beyoncé requested the venue’s largest dressing rooms, which are usually reserved for full sports teams. Then she decorated them with white drapes, rugs, and leather sofas, reported the Daily Star.

Beyonce’s publicist didn’t return our request for comment. Maybe she was too busy tracking down titanium drinking straws.

If you can believe MySpace’s "What’s Hot," Jay-Z isn’t nearly as demanding as his picky spouse. In a story printed December 2012, Emily Zemler wrote that his tour rider includes just four golf buggies, 2004 Sassicaia Italian red wine from the Bolgheri region, orange juice (which "must not contain fruit pulp”), and hand sanitizer.

While Madonna’s tour rider hasn’t been revealed, she reportedly tours with a 200-person entourage, including 30 bodyguards, personal chefs (ya gotta have more than one to be a true diva), a yoga instructor, an acupuncturist, and an on-site dry cleaner. In addition, Maddy demands 20 international phone lines; lilies and roses (white and light pink), with stems trimmed to exactly six inches; and all-vegan food, assumedly for her multiple chefs.

Ready for Katy Perry’s rider? Nothing she asks for is particularly weird, she just demands a lot!:

Here's what she asked for on her 2011 rider, according to TheSmokingGun.com:

Dressing room for six to 10 people with Internet connection, private bathroom and good lighting. The room needed to be piped and draped in cream or soft pink and it needed to include three electrical circuits, one six foot banquet table, one full length mirror, six folding chairs, two trash cans, two comfortable arm chairs--egg chairs, one with footstool, in cream, two French ornate style floor lamps, one refrigerator with glass door, an arrangements of fresh flowers consisting of pink, white and purple hydrangeas, pink and white roses and peonies. If the above is not available, she’s flexible enough to accept seasonal white flowers “include white orchids but ABSOLUTELY NO CARNATIONS!”

There’s a ton of other requirements for “glam room,” “male band dressing room,” and “female BGV’s dressing room” that can be viewed here. And Perry’s food demands made the abundant treats dancing around her “California Gurls” video look like a box of raisins. Perry requires:

Bowl of whole fresh organic grown fruit (apples, bananas and grapes)
Plate of fresh cut crudités must include, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, snap peas and celery with ranch dip
Fruit & vegetable must be organic & properly sanitized
Dried apples or pears (unsweetened)
Dry roasted edamame, lightly salted
Freeze-dried strawberry
Whole wheat pita bread and crackers (Finn crip original and Kavli pesto and Waa crisp ‘n’ light) and Hummus (with minimal oil)

Now there’s a girl who knows what she wants!

Maybe Rihanna hasn’t reached official diva status quite yet, which might explain why her rider only runs about $50 and features the kind of "food items" that would send Beyonce and Madonna screaming. RiRi demands: one large bag of Haribo brand Gold Bears, one box of Capri Sun, 10 bags of cheddar cheese Ruffles, 10 bags of Flaming Hot Cheetos, and one box of Golden Grahams cereal.

Nicki Minaj isn’t demanding either, but she also seems to like to chow down backstage. And she likes ambience while she eats. Here are her demands: Three baked goods-scented candles; Belgian Waffles: “Syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, butter and strawberries on side, enough to serve 4 people”; and Three buckets of fried chicken: "Spicy – no thighs, lots of wings."
