Johnny Depp Joins Alice Cooper Onstage in London

Johnny Depp has always been a rocker at heart. And this past Sunday, he showed his rocker stripes again, joining shock-rock legend Alice Cooper onstage at London's 100 Club for two classic songs.

This was hardly Johnny's first brush with rock 'n' roll. He was a member of L.A. hair metal band Rock City Angels in the '80s; he was in a short-lived supergroup called P with the Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea, and the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones in the '90s; he was an original co-owner of the infamous Sunset Strip club the Viper Room; he's played with the Pogues' Shane MacGowan and Oasis; he convincingly portrayed a strung-out rock star in the Tom Petty music video "Into The Great Wide Open"; and the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards even played his dad in the Pirates Of The Caribbean movie franchise.

But this might have been Johnny's best rock 'n' roll role yet, as he jammed on "School's Out" (mashed up with Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall") and "I'm Eighteen" with Cooper's crew.

"I think we could use another guitar player, right?" Alice told the actor onstage. "Johnny, this whole movie thing--if it doesn''t pan out, join us, OK?"

It's unlikely that Johnny will take Alice up on his kind offer any time soon, but "rock star" still seems like the part he was born to play.
