Pink’s Controversial, Powerful New Video is Pretty Much “Perfect”

Stop The Presses!

In an era of prefab pop fembots, Pink has always served as an excellent role model for female fans--whether she's skewering vapid celebutantes in "Stupid Girls," singing live (NOT lip-synching!) while performing daredevil aerial stunts, or saluting misfits and outcasts while donning Rosie The Riveter gear in her "Raise Your Glass" video. But in her powerful new video for "F***in' Perfect," Pink sends possibly her strongest message to girls yet.

The video is sure to court controversy, as its troubled main character deals with schoolyard bullies, mean girls, unsympathetic teachers, controlling parents, anorexia, shoplifting, and, in the clip's most unsettling (and, be warned, bloodiest) scene, cutting--all in her attempts to find herself and finally feel that she's "perfect." But the video's surprise ending should bolster the confidence of many self-doubting viewers who can relate to the girl's story. This video pretty much is perfect.

Watch it below, and just try not to get teary-eyed by the end.
