It may have been Joel Madden who was busted for having pot in his Sydney, Australia hotel room, but it was his buddy Seal who went on a Twitter rant about it.

The British singer took to social media on Tuesday to defend his fellow The Voice Australia coach after police were called to Madden's hotel and found a small amount of marijuana.

While Madden was nothing but polite when discussing the incident and said on Tumblr, "Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the NSW police handled the situation. They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn't cause too much drama for anyone," Seal expressed very different sentiments.

The "Kiss From A Rose" singer, who was once married to model Heidi Klum, defended Madden and touted his charity work, and then proceeded to lash out at what he calls "trash media." But no sooner did he rant than he thought better of it and deleted all but the following tweet:

But before he had the chance to remove the posts, E! caught wind of them and captured his tirade. Seal continued: "homeless shelters, provide time and love for disabled kids, represent at the Logies and not to mention bring hope to aspiring artists...across the nation with his authenticity and heart. Yet having a joint in the privacy of his hotel room is worthy of front page news??? cont."

Seal added: "Way to respect a guest in your country trash media, way to make us feel welcome. Keep it up..sure we'll be back next year. and yes, I say we because it's just a matter of time before you gun us all down. Hell, you even it you're own @DeltaGoodrem who's a national treasure!!"

"It's a shame. I for one will not stand by and watch you attempt to destroy my Brother, you gun one you gun us all! Shame one the Star cont..you ask him to meet n greet a cancer victim in your hotel then send police to his room?? Nice…very classy..keep it up Judas. I'm done here. can't wait to go home."

Several Twitter users did not take kindly to Seal's harsh words, and responded with sentiments ranging from disapproval ("Who do you think you are?") to outright blunt ("You're full of crap").

Seal obviously thought better of his comments and deleted them a couple of hours later, offering an apology and explaining that he was missing his children after being away so long, which is why he was eager to leave Australia.

"I want to apologise for my rant earlier," Seal wrote. "Joel is one of my best friends and I was really hurting for him.

"I want to say I have loved being in Australia, I've loved working on The Voice and with an incredibly talented group of Australian artists. It's been almost 11 weeks away from my kids and me saying 'I can't wait to go home' was me missing being home with them."

Although it was good of Seal to defend his buddy, his rant went over the top and he quickly regretted it. The moral of this story? Think before you tweet.
