James Franco on His One Film That Just ‘Sucks’

It's pretty obvious that James Franco has a sense of humor about, well, James Franco.

The actor's indie filmmaker and artist persona often leaves people scratching their heads, but he's not afraid to have a little fun with it.

“My public persona is something that is only partially constructed by me, so if people want to mock that, it’s fine. I mock it," Franco tells GQ magazine.

The "Oz: The Great and Powerful" lead graces the June cover of the magazine (its annual comedy issue) and shares that even his close friends have fun with his fractured image.

Buddy Seth Rogen penned a part for James in the forthcoming apocalypse comedy "This Is The End," in which Franco plays a version of himself.

"When I first read the script ... the James Franco character was -- I guess the only way to describe it is he was a lot d**chier than the version that we came up with. I was the materialistic guy. They were really playing up the Gucci-modeling aspect of my life," Franco said.

Hopefully they've toned it down for the romp, which co-stars Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, and features cameos from Rihanna and Emma Watson.

And while Franco has proven he can do comedy as well artsy fare, some experiences are no laughing matter.

"'Your Highness'? That movie sucks," Franco said of his widely panned medieval flick with McBride and Natalie Portman.

"You can’t get around that.”
