In the same tweet, Followill also told Murphy to "zip your lip and focus on educating seven-year-olds how to say f**k," effectively surrendering the high ground in the conflict established by his brother and bandmate Caleb in the same Hollywood Reporter piece. When asked to comment on the Glee executive producer's anger toward the band for rejecting the show, Caleb simply explained that at the time the band had never seen the program and were no longer interested in promoting their hit single "Use Somebody."
In an email statement sent to Perez Hilton, Murphy accused Nathan Followill of being a homophobe and picked at his comment, noting that "most gay dudes" do not wear bras. Murphy told Hilton that while the creative team on Glee loves Kings of Leon's music, he "cannot condone or even laugh at their clear disdain of gay people."
Later Nathan tweeted that he was sorry for his comments, and insisted that he did not intend to seem homophobic or misogynistic.
