The Yahoo! On the Road rapper samples Janet’s sexy, 1994 No. 2 smash “Anytime, Anyplace” for his song “Poetic Justice,” a play on the pop star’s lead role in the 1993 film of the same name.
In an interview with Billboard magazine, Janet said she is a fan of Kendrick’s reworking of her track from her “janet.” album.
“I love Kendrick’s ‘Poetic Justice’,” Janet told Billboard. She added that she has always wanted her music to inspire other artists.
“There are artists, true performers that have come before me who have been a big inspiration to me,” she said. “I hope I do the same for others.”

Janet has been rewarded for her good artistic deeds as her work has inspired a wealth of newer acts, including Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Ciara and even Kendrick.
When Yahoo! Music spoke to Kendrick before his Yahoo! On the Road date at Cincinnati’s Bogarts, he said he hoped Janet approved of his “Anytime, Anyplace” interpolation.
“I’m hoping she liked the song because she had to clear it,” he told Yahoo! Music. “I think if she didn’t like it, she probably wouldn’t have cleared it. I haven’t talked to her, but she’s the queen and hopefully, one day, I’ll get that privilege to say what’s up to her.”
Looks like Kendrick’s gut instincts were right. His “Poetic Justice” is Ms. Jackson-approved.
