Classic Rock Mars Songs

The Y! Music Playlist Blog

Mars is a neighbor to planet Earth and is the fourth planet from the sun. It has fascinated human beings since we first discovered it in the lights in the night sky. Since that time, we've learned a lot more about Mars, but we still have a lot to learn. And this desire for knowledge inspired the United States to announce a manned mission to Mars as a future milestone back in 2004, although no definitive plans have been made. Musicians have been especially keen on the red planet and you can find thousands of songs inspired by, or that mention Mars in the lyrics. For this playlist I have chosen to select only classic rock tracks that mention the planet. Please keep in mind that one could probably do a whole album a Mars-based songs by David Bowie, but for the purposes of this list I've chosen only one as to provide a better feel of what else is out there. No offense intended to the great Mr. Bowie.
