Adele 'On the Mend' After Throat Surgery

Things are looking up for Adele. After undergoing laser throat micro surgery last week to stop recurring hemorrhaging from her vocal cords – an ailment that forced her to cancel all of her remaining tour dates in 2011 – the 21 singer took to her personal blog yesterday to assure fans that the operation went smoothly. She wrote:

Thank you for all your positive thoughts and get well wishes. I’m doing really well, on the mend, super happy, relaxed and very positive with it all. The operation was a success and I’m just chilling out now until I get the all clear from my doctors. Thank you to everyone who voted for the awards I’ve won recently as well. Hugely appreciated. I best get back to practicing my mime show now.

When her voice is fully restored, Adele will have even more reason to celebrate: 21, this year’s biggest pop breakthrough, just became the first record to sell a million copies on iTunes in Europe. It is the latest in a string of accolades for the singer’s second album: earlier this year, 21 became the best-selling digital LP of all time in the United States, to the tune of over 1.017 million copies. In July, her current single, the heart-tugging ballad “Someone Like You,” also became the first single to sell over a million copies in the United Kingdom.
